Local PC Diagnostic & Tune-Up

Greetings and thanks for taking the time to find this private web page!
Think of me as the brother-in-law who’s *really good* with computers you wished had.
Since 1982 I have been building, upgrading and maintaining personal computers, from the IBM PCjr to today’s Quad-core beasts. I am experienced in all current and past Microsoft operating systems (DOS, Windows 9X, ME, NT, XP and Vista). I have helped countless business associates and friends with their computer needs for close to 30 years. In short, I am a very advanced user, capable of fixing 99% of personal computer woes.
Before spending the money and investing the time to replace your computer, programs and data, consider spending $25 to see if your current computer’s useful life can be extended first. Assuming your computer is functional, a PC diagnostic/tune-up encompasses:
- Update and patch operating system files to most current available (assuming the computer has functioning internet capabilities);
- Verify “automatic updates” are enabled (XP and Vista);
- Delete internet cookies and temporary files;
- Check file system for errors and fix any minor errors found (non-hardware);
- Defragment all hard drives;
- Reduce the amount of hard drive space allotted to the recycle bin to 1-2% (typical, depends on size of drive);
- Reduce the amount of hard drive space allotted to internet usage to 50MB;
- Enable pop-up blocker (if disabled);
- Turn on automatic phishing filter (IE only);
- Enable Windows Firewall if no other 3rd party firewall is installed;
- Install and run a freeware system and disk cleaner; and
- Diagnose and assess malfunction(s) with PC (if applicable) and attempt to repair the affected equipment, provided that parts are NOT required.
.
FREE for “qualified” non-profits
***I am willing to perform the PC diagnostic/tune-up for “qualified” non-profits (such as churches, social service-type programs, community centers and schools, etc.) FOR FREE subject to availability.***
.
The “fine print”…
- Drop off your computer off at my home in Roxbury Township (only the CPU is needed: no mice, keyboards or monitors);
- Provide the restore/recovery disc(s) or operating system disc(s) that originally came with your computer; and
- Agree that my liability for unintentional loss or damage is limited to the amount you pay me.
